Adam Caplan reports that the Cleveland Browns have traded safety David Sims to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a conditional draft pick in 2013.
It’s likely a seventh-rounder.
In order to clear room on their 53-man roster, the Eagles waived guard Julian Vandervelde.
The Eagles got an up-close look at Sims in their third preseason game, when he racked up five tackles. Sims had an interception in each of the two exhibition contests before that.
In Philadelphia, Sims will compete for the third safety job behind Kurt Coleman and Nate Allen while contributing on special teams.
