The Lions have made their way down to 53 men and quarterback Kellen Moore is still on the roster.

Moore’s chances of making the club improved when R.J. Archer was cut loose on Monday and he played well in the team’s final postseason game on Thursday, which, according to Tim Twentyman of the team’s website, was enough for him to nail down a spot on the roster. Like every other player celebrating the fact that they didn’t get axed on Friday night, Moore can still be sent packing before the start of the regular season although he’s the kind of developmental player many teams like as their third quarterback.

Moore’s physical abilities did not impress many people when he worked out for NFL teams, just as they didn’t impress many people during his career at Boise State. They were good enough for him to win a bunch of games in college, though, and the Lions have found enough to like that they’d like to see more of Moore in the future.

Twentyman also reported that the final two cuts in Detroit were wide receiver Patrick Edwards and guard Dan Gerberry. They and every other player involved in a roster move on Friday can be found on our 53-man roster tracker.
