Maurice Jones-Drew cut fines in half when he returned to Jags

Maurice Jones-Drew is in line for third-down work today against the Vikings, but he cut his fines in half when he reported to the Jaguars a week ago.

Jason LaCanfora of reported that the arrangement between last year’s league-leading rusher and the team cut his fines for skipping training camp from $1.6 million to “a little less than $800,000,” according to a league source.

Jones-Drew is set to make $4.45 million this season, so it’s not like he’s going to struggle to pay the bills.

But a holdout that gained nothing and close to $800,000 in fines makes it an expensive political statement.
