With defensive end Tamba Hali returning from a one-game suspension, someone with Chiefs had to go.

And the guy who has gone is linebacker Cameron Sheffield.

A fifth-round draft pick in 2010, Sheffield appeared in every game last season, with one start. He also played in Sunday’s 40-24 loss to the Falcons.

Sheffield missed all of his rookie year after suffering a neck injury against the Eagles in the preseason. He’ll now be exposed to waivers. If he clears, he’ll become a free agent.
