Quentin Jammer has a broken hand

The Chargers are running low on healthy cornerbacks again.

The team spent most of the preseason with Antoine Cason as the only healthy veteran corner as the rest of the group shared hamstring injuries the way a kindergarten classroom shares a good case of the chicken pox. Now they’re down to just two healthy ones after the first week of the regular season.

Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Quentin Jammer broke his hand late in the Chargers’ Monday night victory over the Raiders. His status is unknown although we should get more of an idea about where Jammer stands after the Chargers practice on Wednesday. There have been many players who have played with broken hands in the past, so Jammer’s definitely got a shot at playing this weekend.

If Jammer can’t play, the Chargers might have an issue with his likeliest fill-in as well. Shareece Wright sprained his ankle playing special teams on Monday and, per Gehlken, the team’s still waiting for more medical news about the severity of the injury.

As a result of the injuries, the Chargers were forced to play Eric Weddle as a slot corner toward the end of the game with Oakland and they’ll likely need to make a move for another body at corner if either of the ailing players isn’t going to be able to get on the field against the Titans.
