Herb Taylor has been a Jaguar since Monday, and hasn’t played in a regular season game in four years.
Today, he’s a starter.
The former Packers, Chiefs, Broncos and Giants blocker will replace starting left guard Eben Britton, who was inactive along with right tackle Cameron Bradfield.
Taylor hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2008, when he appeared in all 16 with one start for the Chiefs.
He told Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union he practiced at both guard spots and right tackle this week.
“Just taking everything in, trying to not only learn what’s on the board, but taking it to the field and moving,” Taylor said. “I’m here early, with the coaches late and my playbook doesn’t close until I go to sleep at the hotel. . . .
“Wherever they need me,” he said. “I’m just hunkering down.”
So is quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
