Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker suffered an injury to his right knee on the second play of Sunday’s game in St. Louis, and it appears that he could be done for the season.

Although the Redskins won’t know until an MRI today how severe the injury is, the Redskins expect him to need surgery, and head coach Mike Shanahan sounded after the game like he’s expecting not to have Carriker for a long time.

It doesn’t look good,” Shanahan said, via the Washington Post.

Carriker has been a starter since arriving in Washington and has played in every game in the last three years.

The Redskins also lost outside linebacker Brian Orakpo on Sunday to a pectoral injury. There’s no word on the severity of that injury, but he already had pectoral surgery once this year, and his comments afterward suggested that he could need surgery again.

“It just ripped on me, man,” Orakpo said. “Same injury as before. It’s just frustrating, man.”

The Redskins left St. Louis with plenty to be frustrated about.
