Chargers had 9,200 unsold tickets at blackout deadline

Test+Pattern

The good news is that, even if the 2-0 Chargers had taken rule advantage of the new 85-percent rule, their home game against the 2-0 Falcons still would have been blacked out locally.

The bad news is that, even if the 2-0 Chargers had taken rule advantage of the new 85-percent rule, their home game against the 2-0 Falcons still would have been blacked out locally.

According to U-T San Diego, the Chargers had more than 9,200 unsold seats at the time the deadline for selling enough tickets came and went.

Regardless of the reason(s), that’s alarming.

The other bit of good news (if there is any) for the Chargers is that they don’t have another home game for three weeks, and then another three weeks after that. And then another three weeks after that. So maybe the lag will make more fans willing to show up -- especially if the Bolts can continue their uncharacteristic streak of early-season success.

With half of the home schedule falling after Thanksgiving, they’d better.
