The Bills thought running back Fred Jackson would miss more than a month with a knee injury. He could be back in less time than that.
The Bills also thought running back C.J. Spiller would miss at least a week with a shoulder injury. And he could be back in less time than that.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Spiller is healing faster than expected from a sprained shoulder. He could return to practice this week.
It’s unclear whether that means he’d play on Sunday against the Patriots. But no one expected Jackson the play again in September, and right now he’s on track to return.
Either way, Spiller is a lot closer to playing than anyone thought he would when he fell awkwardly on his shoulder against the Browns.
