Jamaal Charles giveth, Jamaal Charles taketh away

Jamaal Charles, Jonathan Casillas

ADVANCE FOR WEEKEND EDITIONS, SEPT. 29-30 - FILE - In this Sept. 23, 2012, file photo, Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (25) carries the ball as New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Casillas (52) pursues dyring the first half of an NFL football game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. After he tore his ACL last season, and was forced to endure months of excruciating rehab, nobody was quite sure how the Chiefs’ Pro Bowl running back was feeling. On Sunday, Charles showed he may be better than ever, running for 233 yards in a 27-24 overtime win against New Orleans that may have well saved the Chiefs’ season. (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert, File)

Being overworked didn’t look like it was going to be Jamaal Charles’ problem today.

A week after touching the ball 39 times for 288 total yards in a win over the Saints, the Chiefs running back was a mess early.

He fumbled twice, and had four carries for one yard. Then he popped an apparent 37-yard touchdown run, which was upheld on review.

That they’re still willing to give him chances speaks to their confidence in him.
