Jimmy Graham in walking boot after Saints win

Sunday was a night for celebration in New Orleans.

The Saints finally got a win, their beleaguered defense came up with big stops in the second half and Drew Brees broke a long-standing record for consecutive games with a touchdown. All the news wasn’t great, however.

Tight end Jimmy Graham hurt his ankle near the end of the first half and his subsequent return to the game won’t quiet all worry about his condition during the bye week. Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Graham, who had just one catch for four yards on Sunday night, was in a walking boot after the game and interim coach Aaron Kromer said that the team needed to take some time to figure out where things stand with the tight end.

“Jimmy was a little banged up as the game went along,” Kromer said, via WWL-TV. “We’ll see how he is.”

The Saints also lost cornerback Jabari Greer to what’s been alternately described as both a hip and groin injury during the win. There was no immediate update on his status, although one imagines that the Saints are happy to have a little extra time for both players to heal before resuming their quest to make their 0-4 start a distant memory.
