Kenny Britt feeling closer to his old self

It has been a long time since we’ve seen the Kenny Britt whose athleticism made him a game-changing wide receiver for the Titans.

A serious knee injury, knee surgery, a suspension and a recent ankle issue have combined to keep Britt either out of the lineup or short of his old abilities for more than a year. The Titans could really use the return of that old Britt to an offense that’s been really short on playmakers in the first five weeks of the season. So it’s good news for them that Britt said Tuesday that he’s feeling closer to his old self than at any other point this season.

“Today I felt the most confident I have in this whole year and this whole season to tell you the truth,” Britt said, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “With my eyes, finding the ball when Matt (Hasselbeck) was throwing it, especially coming over the big linemen. So I’m definitely getting back to where I was last year.”

Britt has nine catches in three games on the year and he’s played a limited package of snaps in those games because of the team’s concerns about his various leg injuries. They probably don’t have much choice but to start feeding him more playing time in hopes of both sparking the offense and making sure that Britt will be able to return to the level he was at before his 2011 season ended in the third game.

  1. going to need alot more than britt to win. how about some actual coaching, tackling and pass protection. probably the worst team in the league despite all the young talent they have

  2. Hopefully this new found confidence doesn’t cause him to do more self destructive nonsense . Britt might have been unlucky with injuries but man has he been lucky that the NFL hasn’t penalized his off field behavior more .

  3. …until the next game, then he’ll be hurt again. This guy could be a top five WR in the league, he has so much talent but it’s either he’s hurt all the time or suspended after getting in trouble.
