Steelers rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu has been arrested after an early-morning crash in which police say he drove drunk, crashed into several vehicles and attempted to flee.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Ta’amu was seen driving recklessly at about 2:30 a.m., and that when police tried to stop him, he fled. He was stopped only after he crashed his vehicle into several others.

Ta’amu is facing felony counts of fleeing police, aggravated assault while driving drunk and three counts of aggravated assault, plus 10 misdemeanors, including resisting arrest, attempting escape, drunken driving and failure to obey traffic laws.

The Steelers took Ta’amu out of Washington in the fourth round of this year’s draft. Ta’amu has yet to play in the regular season.
