Former Bears first-rounder Chris Williams’ unemployment may not last long.

Williams told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune he was visiting the Eagles Wednesday, the day after being cut by the Bears.

Now, I will get an opportunity to go play somewhere, and I’m excited about that,” Williams said. “The Bears are a good team, they will do well and I will miss the guys. It sucks being released and that type of thing. But sitting on the bench here for the whole year wasn’t going to help me in free agency. Now, I’ll get a chance somewhere else.”

The Eagles offer an opportunity, if he plays to his draft status (which he didn’t in Chicago). Their line has been a mess ever since left tackle Jason Peters was lost to an Achilles tear, rolling Demetress Bell and King Dunlap with mixed results (at best).

Williams started 38 games for the Bears, but most of them ended up at guard, so it will be interesting to see if he can regain his footing for a team that could use the help.
