Felix Jones: I’m ready to carry the load for the Cowboys

In the first five weeks of this season, Cowboys running back Felix Jones was largely invisible, carrying a whopping three times for 13 yards. But Jones after Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray suffered a foot injury in Week Six, Jones is expected to start in Week Seven. And he says he’s ready.

“I want to help out the team any way possible,” Jones told Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram. “If that’s carrying the load, I’m going to do it.”

After Murray went down on Sunday against the Ravens, Jones stepped in and had 18 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. So the early returns suggest that Jones is, in fact, ready. And he says he’s ready for a big game Sunday against the Panthers.

“I’m definitely ready at all times,” Jones said. “I’m just focused on today, focused on getting ready for the Carolina Panthers. I can’t look too far ahead because I’ll lose focus of what’s going on right now. My focus is the Carolina Panthers. That’s what I’m focusing on.”

If Jones is ready to play as well against the Panthers as he did against the Ravens, the Cowboys will be in good shape even without Murray.
