Jason Garrett wants no part of owner’s title talk

Jason Garrett has to be grateful to Jerry Jones for giving him an opportunity to be a head coach in the NFL.

But Jones also has to give him headaches from time to time.

While the owner said during a radio interview he thought the 2-3 Cowboys were capable of winning a championship this year, Garrett wanted no part of that conversation.

We are not focused on that,” Garrett said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We are focused on meeting Wednesday and preparing for Carolina on Sunday. That is where our emphasis is a players and coaches.”

When asked if the comments by the owner added too much pressure, Garrett kept right on with the soft-shoe.

“We are not focused on that,” Garrett said. “We think Jerry Jones is an outstanding owner. We appreciate everything he does for our football team. But our focus is practicing well today.”

Garrett’s a big boy, and had to know what he was getting used to. But good luck getting a team with high expectations to be as devoted to the daunting task of getting ready for the 1-4 Panthers when the owner’s picking out a place for a trophy they don’t appear all that close to winning.
