Panthers remember who they are, take halftime lead

The Panthers are letting Cam Newton be Cam Newton, they remembered they’re a running team, and perhaps not coincidentally, they lead the Cowboys 7-3 at halftime.

Newton made up for an interception in the end zone with a touchdown pass to Brandon LaFell just before halftime.

But as importantly, the Panthers have 13 rush attempts and 13 pass attempts. They only have a chance when they’re balanced. Newton leads them with 64 yards on five carries.

The Cowboys wasted an 18-play drive by only managing a field goal, and a Miles Austin fumble gave the Panthers the ball for the go-ahead drive.
