Saints welcome Vitt’s energy, sense of humor

AP

Joe Vitt is back as the interim head coach of the Saints.  And the Saints are happy to have him.

It’s not a knock against interim-to-the-interim head coach Aaron Kromer.  As a source with knowledge of the dynamics explained it to PFT, there’s a fudamental difference between Vitt and Kromer.

Vitt is Sean Payton’s right hand man.  Vitt has no qualms about ripping a player who needs to be ripped; Kromer was at times reluctant to let a guy have it.  And with Vitt, there’s an energy that instantly returned to the team.

There’s also a sense of humor.  As others have reported, Vitt was on the team plane from Tampa back to New Orleans.  Hiding in the cockpit, he got on the intercom and said, “Listen up, you f–kers.  Put your trays up and buckle your seat belt of I’ll come f–king do it myself.”

Or words to that effect.

So welcome back, Joe.  With the Saints on a two-game winning streak and a date with Denver looming, things could get very interesting, very quickly.

  1. Joe Vitt is a breath of fresh air in the NFL. He says what he believes and the players believe what he says.

Saints still have a shot at a playoff spot. The run will continue in Denver.

Nobody in the NFC wants to face the Saints in the playoffs.

  2. In that image he looks like he’s got the world’s worst case of hemorrhoids and is looking to tear someone else a new orifice to ease his pain.

LMAO!! Seriously? Dude everyone wants to play the Satins RIGHT NOW, never mind waiting for the playoffs (which they”ll be watching from home). How soon we forget the officiating that helped them to BOTH victories. But what’s new right? wowsers

  4. To all the Failcant fans:

Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear…

No SB ring or playoff win for the FAILCANTS, right?

    Sincerely,
    The Who Dat Nation

  5. Keep in mind the Saints showed no signs of being a bottom-feeder with Vitt in charge during the preseason. Wasn’t until Kromer took over that things started falling apart.

Vitt at the helm does make this team better. It’s still very possible they could end up 10-6 if they get hot like they did last year.

  6. By the looks of that pic, they certainly aren’t pulling him away from his GQ cover modeling gig.

  7. I was telling a buddy the other day after looking at the saints schedule and it would not surprise me one bit to see them win 9 of the last 11 games. They look to be almost back on track and a 10-6 or 9-7 saints team scares the hell out of me come playoff time. Hopefully we can beat them at least one of the 2 games. SuperDome is always a tough place to win. I would be just fine with them missing the playoffs by a game or 2.

  8. Oh god, you’ve got freakin’ Falcons fan talking smack. There’s not another team in the NFL that can blow a season as good as the Falcons. Remember that 15-1 season, and the crash and burn that was heard around the league? It’s coming again, to YOUR neighborhood. Lol. Don’t get too comfy sport, most Falcon fans know not to talk smack, because their day of reckoning is near. Who Dat Nation looks forward to your visit to the Mercedes Benz Superdome, ya hear!

  9. “Listen up, you f–kers. Put your trays up and buckle your seat belt of I’ll come f–king do it myself.”

Another class act on the Saints.

  10. Saints next two games, although look tough on paper are prime time games. Saints best performances happen in prime time and they rarely lose those games. Not only that but the typically get hot in November. You’d be wise by not counting them out yet

  11. Falcons fans crack me up.

How many playoff wins under the new regime?

    Bueller……Bueller…….

Honestly, your worst nightmare is a second round playoff game against the Saints in the Georgia Dome. You can try to deny it, but everybody knows it to be true.

No doubt, the Saints have a big hole to crawl out of after dropping the first four games, but they have pulled the last two games out and have to get to 10-6 to get a playoff spot. If they can pull that off, it would mean that they ended the season 10-2, anybody really want to face Drew Brees in the playoffs? The Defense may finally start to gel in the next couple of weeks.

  12. Girls, give up the ref excuses why don’t you just blame it on them betting on the game it’s just as tired of an excuse that nobody cares about.

Kromer was in a tough position he couldn’t really lay into anyone because he’s back as the o-line coach now and that just wasn’t his personality so to be yelling at players would make him seem to be trying to be something that he’s not.

The saints are finally playing inspired but the hole that Goodell dug is too deep to climb out of.

Your falcons fan. So, I guess you’re excited about you undefeated team. The only problem is that you’ve rolled through the regular season and looked like world beaters and got your a$$ kicked in the playoffs. And, to make things worse you got beat at home. And, I promise if you ask any team or the fans who they would rather face in the playoffs it would be the falcons. So, until your team manages to show some heart in the playoffs keep your mouth shut!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. If he hadn’t become a coach, Joe Vitt could’ve done okay as a standup comic. On the field he’s more intense like Sean, but he doesn’t hide his fire as well. Now, the Saints will play more like their old selves. Atlanta thinks it’s their turn to go to the big dance. What a bummer it’ll be for them when the Saints squeek in as a wild card and knock them out of the playoffs.

  15. He can provide all of the energy in the world but that’s not going to improve that 32nd ranked defense (look it up Aints fans) they just gave up 400+ yards to Josh Freeman, I’m sure Peyton Manning took notice of that and will be ready to use his “dead arm” to more than equal that.

    Denver 45 Aints 17

  16. As a saints fan, its only natural to hate the falcons. They are the strongest opponent in our division( at least during the regular season). But Matt ryans face is annoying. That is all. BTW, FAILCANTS? That’s a pretty lame diss. We can do better than that!

I love seeing the meltdown in the swamp land. How many yards did Josh Freeman put up on you again? LOL…Josh ‘I suck otherwise’ Freeman. Bounty Gate Cap’n Brees will get his points but the defense couldn’t stop, well, Josh Freeman…. and every other guy throwing the ball before him. Sorry guys but the refs won’t always be there for you. On 2nd thought they probably will but still won’t be enough.

And don’t you worry about them undefeated Atlanta Falcons. The divsion title and playoffs is a foregone conclusion and no doubt you’ll see a different team this post-season. No question 😉

By the way, tell Curtis Lofton that I hope he’s enjoying his time with a “winning” football team 😀

Haven’t you heard? The Satins are back! Back doing what I’m not sure just yet. Probably cheating again. Or at least planning to.

  19. @atwatercrushesokoye says: sure the Saints have the worst defense in football, but ask the patriots how they turned out last year with the worst defense in football and made the Super Bowl…Saints fans are very intelligent and aware of how bad our defense is, but we luv our team and will continue to support them…I’m quite sure your boring team has many issues.
