Chargers wide receiver Richard Goodman left the team short handed when he injured his hamstring on the opening kickoff.

So since they have to play Thursday night, they didn’t have time to catch a new guy up.

Chargers coach Norv Turner announced the team placed Goodman on injured reserve, and signed former Chargers wideout Seyi Ajirotutu, who was with the team in 2010.

“With the injury to Richard Goodman, we need to get someone in here who can play Thursday night,” Turner said, via the team’s official website. “Obviously Seyi has been here before and knows what we’re doing.

“We should be able to get him to where he’s able to function should he’s called upon.”

Ajirotutu was with the Panthers last year, but was released in final cuts.

Chris Carr returned the only other kickoff yesterday, and Turner said he wasn’t ready to say who might do that job Thursday.
