While it was hard to top his last game of September, Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake was named AFC defensive player of the month for October.
Wake had 3.0 sacks in three games in October, giving him 7.5 for the season, after his 4.5-sack outburst on Sept. 30 against the Cardinals.
Wake’s consistent output has coincided with the Dolphins looking more legitimate than many expected this season.
They knew they were going to have to count on their defense while rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill established himself, and they’ve done just that.
