Dan Connor, DeMarco Murray will miss Sunday’s game

The Cowboys are running low on inside linebackers.

Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com reports that Dan Connor has been ruled out for Sunday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Connor injured his neck during last week’s 29-24 loss to the Giants and missed practice all this week as a result. It was Connor’s first game filling in for Sean Lee, who was lost for the season with a foot injury in Week Seven.

Orie Lemon and Ernie Sims will see more time with Connor out of the lineup. Sims signed with the team after Lee’s injury and saw time against the Giants in nickel situations while Lemon did most of the early down work after Connor was hurt.

Archer also passes along that running back DeMarco Murray will miss a third straight game with a sprained foot. That was expected after the team made it clear that they plan to take as much time as needed to get Murray back to 100 percent. Felix Jones, who has also been banged up, and Phillip Tanner will handle the running duties on Sunday as the Cowboys try to knock off another undefeated team.

In better injury news for the Cowboys, wide receivers Dez Bryant and Kevin Ogletree were on the field for the portion of Friday’s practice open to the media. Neither player participated in practice Wednesday or Thursday.
