Shaun Cody has a “procedure” for a “rib issue”

The last we heard from the Texans about Shaun Cody, he was “day-to-day” with “rib issues,” which turned out to be a punctured lung and broken ribs.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak isn’t shedding that much more light on it today, telling Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle that Cody had “a procedure.”

Kubiak didn’t get any more specific, saying again it was for a “rib issue.”

When pressed as to whether Cody had a punctured lung, Kubiak said “I’m not a doctor,” (which you can tell because he’s the one in a team-logo shirt).

He said he couldn’t speak to whether Cody had a punctured lung or not, and that the nose tackle was recovering from soreness. Cody wasn’t at practice either of the last two days.

This is all more than just a little silly.

  1. He hasn’t been required to disclose anything yet–it happened last week. All the reports in Houston were broken rib and punctured lung. I’m sure that is what it is, but Kubiack doesn’t want to confirm that until he absolutely has to–let Chicago get ready for Cody. (BTW — get well soon.)

“Yeah, it kind of knocked the wind out of him. But the other lung is still O.K. and he has plenty of ribs, so we don’t expect him to miss any time.”.

hilarious, it deserves repeating. well done.
