After firing their former sports reporter general manager, the Panthers hired another one to help look for his replacement.

The Panthers announced that former Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi (who worked at the old Charlotte News among other newspaper stops) would consult owner Jerry Richardson in looking for a replacement for Marty Hurney.

Accorsi will begin immediately, and will help prepare a list for Richardson so a new GM can be hired after the season.

The two have a long relationship, as the Giants and the Steelers are the two franchises Richardson has tried to model his after since he joined the NFL.
