As good as yesterday was, the Broncos got better news Monday.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, an MRI on the left shoulder of defensive end Elvis Dumervil revealed no tears.

Dumervil could still be questionable for Sunday’s game against the Chargers, but the injury isn’t thought to be of the long-term variety.

Dumervil was injured Sunday on a sack-strip of Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. He tried to return to the game for one play, but didn’t last.

Getting him back this week would be a huge boost, as a win over the Chargers would create a de facto four-game lead with six to play, considering the tiebreaker edge.
