Pierre Garçon’s first year in Washington has been less successful than hoped as a result of a foot injury that’s kept him off the field for six of the team’s nine games this season.
There’s been talk about season-ending surgery and reports out of Washington indicate that they’ll make a decision sooner rather than later on that front. Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan reports that the Redskins will return to practice this week as a limited participant. If his foot responds well, he’ll take on a bigger workload and, the team hopes, return to the lineup on Sundays.
If Garçon’s foot continues to cause him too much pain to take on a bigger role, the team will shut him down and Garçon will have surgery. It’s an option that Garçon said he’d like to avoid “at all possible costs,” albeit one he admits may be necessary to correct the injury.
It will be a big week for Garçon and the Redskins offense, which has missed Garçon’s burst on the outside for pretty much the entire season.
