The roller coaster that is the career of Aaron Maybin continues.
Maybin, who went from 12th overall pick of the Bills in 2009 to outcast to camp addition by the Jets to cutdown casualty to guy who came back after the 2011 season to significant contributor to restricted free agent whom the Jets kept off the market with a seven-figure salary is back on the market.
Kimberly Martin of Newsday reports that Maybin has been cut. Per Martin, Maybin showed up today for a Jets charity event, got the call he’d been released, and left.
Maybin appeared in 13 games last season with the Jets and eight this year, with zero starts. He had the only six sacks of his career in 2011, and he had none in 2012.
He’ll now by exposed to waivers. If he clears, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.
