The Denver Broncos opened a roster spot Tuesday for the possible return of recently reinstated linebacker D.J. Williams.

The Broncos waived rookie safety Duke Ihenacho on Tuesday leaving an opening on the 53-man roster.

Williams was reinstated by the league Monday after missing the first nine games of the season serving two separate suspensions. He was initially suspended six games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Williams then picked up another three game suspension for an August conviction for driving while impaired.

Ihenacho has appeared in two games while recording just one special teams tackle for the Broncos. He has split time between the Broncos active roster and practice squad this season.
