Chris Carter started at outside linebacker for the Steelers for the first three games of the season while James Harrison was injured. Now it’s Carter who’s injured and out.

The Steelers announced today that Carter suffered an abdominal injury and will be placed on season-ending injured reserve. After starting the first three games of the season, Carter moved into a backup and special teams role after Harrison returned.

To replace Carter on the 53-man roster, the Steelers have moved linebacker Marshall McFadden to the active roster from the practice squad. To replace Mcfadden on the practice squad, the Steelers have signed tight end Jamie McCoy.
