When the 49ers announced that coach Jim Harbaugh was having a procedure Thursday to correct an irregular heartbeat, they said that they expected him to be back at work on Friday.
Assistant head coach/special teams coach Brad Seely was said to be running the team in Harbaugh’s absence, but Seely didn’t get a particularly extended run with the whistle. Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Harbaugh actually returned to the team for the second half of Thursday’s practice. That suggests that the procedure was both a success and about as minor as could be given the problem that needed to be addressed.
That’s obviously good news about Harbaugh’s condition. Barring any other issues with his ticker, it feels pretty safe to assume that Harbaugh will be at practice on Friday as well and that he will be coaching the team against the Bears on Monday night.
And that’s good news for the 49ers, who will be trying to get back on the winning side of things after last Sunday’s tie against the Rams.
