Plaxico Burress may have finally found a new team. His first team.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Burress, who has been hoping all year to sign a free agent contract with someone but has so far found no takers, is expected to go to Pittsburgh to take a physical for the Steelers. According to Schefter, the Steelers likely wouldn’t arrange a physical unless they intended to sign Burress.

PFT has confirmed that Burress’s workout is set for Tuesday.

The Steelers could use another receiver, with Antonio Brown slowed by a sprained ankle and Jerricho Cotchery suffering an injury on Sunday night against the Ravens.

Pittsburgh chose Burress with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2000 NFL draft, and he played his first five years in the NFL with the Steelers. He then signed with the Giants in 2005 and played four years there before spending two years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm. After getting out of prison, he played last season for the Jets.

The 35-year-old Burress has said all year that he was staying in good shape and would be ready to play for any team that was willing to give him a chance. He may have finally found that team in Pittsburgh.
