On Monday night, Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery returned from a four-game absence due to a broken hand. Now, Jeffery has a busted knee.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Jeffery will have arthroscopic knee surgery on Wednesday.

It’s unknown when Jeffery will return, or what specifically will be done to repair the joint. The procedure often is used to clean up loose or torn cartilage, and the recovery time can be fairly short.

Jeffery, a second-round pick in April, has 16 catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns in six games, with two starts. His best game came in week one, when he racked up 80 yards and a touchdown.

UPDATE 9:43 p.m. ET: Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Jeffery is expected to miss 2-4 weeks.
