New York Giants safety Kenny Phillips has missed the Giants last six games after suffering an MCL injury in late September.

That could all change this week as Phillips hopes to play on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers. According to Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News, Phillips is optimistic he’ll be able to play against the Packers.

“I still I don’t feel 100%,” Phillips said, “but I think I’m good enough to play at this time.”

Phillips injured his knee in a 19-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles (yes, an actual Eagles victory) in Week 4 and has been unable to get back on the field since. Safety Stevie Brown has taken the place of Phillips in the Giants lineup and has played well for the most part. Brown has racked up five interceptions and 46 tackles on the season.

Phillips has practiced twice this week with the Giants getting an extra day of work in coming off their bye. Phillips was limited during Wednesday’s practice for the Giants. Phillips had 15 tackles and a pass defensed in three games before suffering the injury against the Eagles.
