The mysterious season of Jabar Gaffney has taken another turn, as he was suspended by the league for two games after being released by the Dolphins earlier this week.

According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, Gaffney’s two-game suspension was issued Thursday, a day after he cleared waivers (Happy Thanksgiving), but no reason was immediately evident.

Gaffney seemed like such a natural fit with the Dolphins after he was cut during the preseason by the Patriots. Miami was starving for receiving help, and Gaffney was coming off the best season of his career with the Redskins last year (68 catches for 947 yards and five touchdowns).

But he managed just four catches for 68 yards in the three games he suited up for the Dolphins.

There were some injuries in there, but not sufficient to explain the sudden drop-off. The circumstances of the suspension may shine a little more light on it.
