Colts cheerleaders shave heads in support of Chuck Pagano

Many Colts players shaved their heads in support of coach Chuck Pagano’s battle with leukemia earlier this season and now the team’s cheerleaders have gotten in on the act.

Colts cheerleaders had their heads shaved by the team’s mascot on the sideline during the game. The shot delivered by CBS cameras was well described by our Mike Florio as a “Thelma and Louise” moment as two of the cheerleaders gripped hands during their journey into the hairless unknown. It took place after the mascot, named Blue, challenged them to go through with the shearing if he was able to raise $10,000 for cancer research.

Pagano, who is in remission but still undergoing chemotherapy, was in attendance during the game and got a standing ovation from the crowd when he was shown on the big screen. He’s scheduled for another round of chemo this week, one that he’ll likely be greeting in better spirits after the team was able to hold off the Bills for a 20-13 win on Sunday.

That improved their record to 7-4, improving the team’s chances of making the playoffs. Their stated goal is to keep playing long enough for Pagano to return to work and they’ll be playing in front of cheerleaders with hair back on their heads if that should come to pass.

  1. Making a sacrifice of my own, I am willing to go out with each of the Colts’ cheerleaders even after this.

  2. When are people going to learn that cancer is a nutritional deficiency disease. We already know how to cure it. this money being raised is only making some doctor rich

“Everyone should know that most cancer research is largely a fraud and that the major cancer research organisations are derelict in their duties to the people who support them.” – Linus Pauling PhD (Two-time Nobel Prize winner).

  3. With a week of controversy in the NFL.(red challenge flags, kick to the cup-less
QB) it’s great to read a feel good story!
    Thanks Indy cheerleaders for commitment
    to this worthy cause!

  4. trevor123698 you bonehead. Pauling died from cancer that he could “Cure”. Nutritional deficiency my tail.

  5. I agree with trevor, but nonetheless this was a really cool and unselfish act on the cheerleaders part.

  6. As a grandfather of a leukemia survivor, Trevor is a real knucklehead. To those that have beat Cancer congrats. To those two young cheerleaders that was really cool! The real story here Trevor is the young lady that was NOT part of the original deal with our mascot Blue. She had hers shaved in support because she too is a survivor of Leukemia.

  7. This Colts organization is one class act you never hear the players getting in trouble they just go out and play the best they can and win football games Im proud of the men in blue.
    Go Colts:

  8. Trevor, you are truly an idiot!!! I am a 5 time cancer survivor (stage 4 twice). Non-hodgkins lymphoma. I was part of a vaccine trial at the national institute of health. These things cost money, lots of money. I pray that one day we will have a cure. I still go through maintenance treatments.

My hat’s off to these cheerleaders, and the colts.

Until you’ve been through months of chemo….shut your pie hole.
That is unless you have the cure hidden in your secret laboratory,
    Then lets see it!!
