Bears guard Lance Louis is out for the season, and Vikings defensive end Jared Allen is out about 3 percent of a game check.

According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, Allen was fined $21,000 for last week’s hit on the Bears guard, which left Louis with a torn ACL. Allen’s weekly game checks are just over $683,000.

Allen said he wasn’t trying to hurt Louis on the interception return by teammate Antoine Winfield, although replays showed him leaving his feet before the hit.

“I thought it was a legal hit. He’s running to make a tackle, so I just made a block,” Allen said. “I turned around, he was trying to make a tackle, and I threw myself into him. Just trying to make a block, just like we’re taught.

“I’m never trying to hurt anybody. I’m trying to make a block and spring our guy. It’s unfortunate.”

Louis was essentially the best blocker on a bad offensive line, and the Bears signed veteran Andre Gurode for depth in his absence.
