The Chiefs scored on the first possession of the game, and in the last second of the half, and took a 17-14 lead over the Panthers at the break.

Brady Quinn hit Tony Moeaki for a 1-yard touchdown just before the half to take the lead, on a day when neither team looks very good defensively.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was 6-of-10 passing for 116 yards and two touchdowns, but the Chiefs have a 217-180 edge in yardage at the half, thanks to a clean half by quarterback Quinn (12-of-14 for 122 yards and a touchdown).

The Panthers have also lost a pair of players to injury, as safety Sherrod Martin suffered what appeared to be a significant knee injury, while linebacker James Anderson was poked in the eye and hasn’t returned.

Chiefs running back Jammal Charles has 73 yards on the ground, and he’s finding plenty of holes in the Panthers run defense, which lost nose tackle Ron Edwards last week.
