New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden has served his four game suspension for a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy and is able to rejoin the Patriots active roster.

The Patriots have been granted a one week roster exemption for Bolden to return to practice before they have to activate him. New England will have until Dec. 11 to active him to their 53-man roster. A roster exemption is common practice for players returning from suspension. The Patriots can activate Bolden at anytime but would be required to release a player to open a spot on the active roster.

Bolden has 43 carries for 234 yards and two touchdowns in six games for the Patriots this season.
