Greg Zuerlein’s had quite a rookie year for the Rams and it got a little bit better when the league got around to handing out player of the week honors.

Zuerlein was named the NFC special teams player of the week for the second time this year, joining Jeff Wilkins as the only Rams kickers to be honored multiple times. Zuerlein hit a 53-yard field goal to tie the game at the end of regulation and then won it with a 54-yard kick in overtime.

Those were the fifth and sixth field goals of at least 53 yards, the most ever by a kicker in a single season. He’s 21-of-27 on field goals overall this year, with a long of 60 yards in Week Four. That was the other week that Zuerlein was named the conference’s top special teams player.

Zuerlein, punter Johnny Hekker and cornerback Janoris Jenkins have all won weekly honors in their rookie seasons for a young Rams team trying to extend their winning streak to three in Buffalo this week.
