Percy Harvin is done for the season.

The Vikings confirmed on Wednesday evening that Harvin had been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

That news comes just hours after Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said it was hard to say whether Harvin would play this season. But now it’s official: Harvin is out through the rest of the year and, if the Vikings make it, the postseason as well.

Harvin got off to a great start this year, with 60 catches in the season’s first eight weeks, plus a 35.9-yard kickoff return average, both a kickoff return touchdown and a rushing touchdown. But he got hurt in Week Nine and hasn’t been back on the field since. And now he won’t be back on the field in a game until the 2013 preseason.
