The murder of Kasandra Perkins and the suicide of her killer, Jovan Belcher, have left their three-month-old daughter, Zoey, orphaned.
While no amount of money can replace loving, caring parents, Zoey will receive significant financial assistance in the coming years.
According to the Associated Press, the Collective Bargaining Agreement provides benefits to Zoey in the amount of $108,000 for each of the next four years, $52,000 in the fifth year, and $48,000 per year until she turns 18. That’s more than $1 million in total payments through 2030.
She also will receive all or part of a $600,000 life insurance policy, and $100,000 in retirement benefits earned by Belcher.
We’re also told that the NFLPA will be establishing a trust fund for Zoey, which the NFL also is expected to support. If/when private contributions can be made to the fund, we’ll post the appropriate information.
