Still no timetable for Mark Anderson’s return

Defensive end Mario Williams has picked up his game after a disappointing start to the season, but the Bills’ other big free agent signing on the defensive line may not get a chance to make an improvement on his own slow start.

Anderson remains out after a second surgery on his left knee and he spoke to reporters about his recovery on Thursday. Anderson said that there’s no timetable for his return from a torn lateral meniscus and explained that there’s not much he can do but wait at this point.

“This particular injury, you’ve just got to wait until they heal,” Anderson said, via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News. “That’s all I’ve been doing. When it’s ready, you’ll see me out there. Everything is on pace. There’s no setbacks this time, and everything’s looking good.”

As good as things can look after playing five games and recording just one sack after signing a four-year, $19.5 million contract this offseason. If Anderson doesn’t show enough progress to play in Week 15, the Bills could decide to just swallow the loss by placing Anderson on injured reserve and hoping that next year brings better results.
