The Buffalo Bills lost right tackle Chris Hairston for the rest of the season when they placed him on injured reserve Thursday with a bone injury in his right foot.
According to Nick Mendola of the Associated Press, there was a possibility that Hairston could have returned for the final game of the season although it was somewhat unlikely.
''It’s a situation where he’s going to probably need surgery,’' Bills coach Chan Gailey said. ''They could have done something and maybe got him back for the last game, but it probably wouldn’t have happened that way.’'
The Bills had already lost right tackle Eric Pears for the season with a hip injury suffered in November. Sam Young and rookie David Snow are expected to take over for Hairston. Hairston suffered the injury in the Bills 34-18 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Hairston played in 12 games for the Bills this season making eight starts.
The Bills signed guard Chris Scott off the Tennessee Titans practice squad to take Hairston’s spot on the roster.
