The Eagles have already lost their starting quarterback and running back to concussions this year, so they’re experienced with finding out that a key offensive player has a concussion.
They’ll put that experience to work on Sunday with tight end Brent Celek. Celek left Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers after suffering a head injury early in the first quarter and he will not return after being diagnosed with a concussion.
Celek joins Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy as Eagles offensive starters felled by concussions this season. It’s much too soon to know how long the Eagles will be without Celek, who has 50 catches for 601 yards this season. Clay Harbor will take over at tight end for the Eagles and he won’t get much help as he’s the only other tight end on the active roster.
The game is scoreless a little more than halfway through the first quarter.
