The first half of Sunday Night Football might not have told us much about the Packers. They haven’t had the ball enough to make a judgement.
But it told us everything you need to know about the Lions. They can be as good as any team they face. And they can self-destruct with remarkable ease.
They raced to a 14-0 lead, only to see it start to evaporate not long after they were penalized for excessive celebration of said touchdown.
First it was the ball slipping out of Matthew Stafford’s hand and being returned 43 yards for a touchdown by Packers defensive lineman Mike Daniels. Then Stafford threw a bad interception (though his old college roommate Kris Durham might not have helped him out much).
The Lions still lead 14-10 at the break, running well and dominating possession.
But if you’ve seen any amount of Lions football this year, you know no lead is safe.
