Nnamdi Asomugha helped off the field in Tampa

There hasn’t been much to talk about other than Eagles injuries at this point in their game with the Buccaneers in Tampa.

Tight end Brent Celek is finished for the day after suffering a concussion in the first quarter and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha needed medical attention after going down while defending Bucs tight end Dallas Clark on a pass in the second quarter. Asomugha flipped himself over trying to make the play and came down hard on his back.

It took a few moments before he was able to sit up and talk to the trainers who came to help him on the field. He was helped to the sidelines and has now returned to the locker room for further evaluation.

Last month, Mike Florio reported that Asomugha stands to have $3 million cut from his 2013 salary if he doesn’t participate in 90 percent of the defensive snaps this season.

Asomugha had been part of a stout defensive effort against the Bucs thus far. The Bucs defense has been equally stingy, though, and there’s no score with eight minutes to go in the first half.

UPDATE 2:27 p.m. ET: X-rays on Asomugha’s neck were negative. There’s no word on if he’ll return to the game.

UPDATE 2:50 p.m. ET: Asomugha has returned for the Eagles in the second half.
