Todd Bowles has had a rough time as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator this season, but his alma mater apparently still thinks he’s a good coach.

Temple University, where Bowles played in the 1980s, has contacted Bowles about its head-coaching vacancy, CSNPhilly.com reports.

Bowles, who became the Eagles’ defensive coordinator when Juan Castillo was fired this season, said last week that he’s only thinking about his current job. But he didn’t deny that he’d be interested in returning to Temple as his next job.

“Right now, I haven’t even thought about it,” Bowles said. “I love my school to death. I wear Temple sweatshirts every day. I got my job right here. I’m very happy with it.”

The Eagles are expected to fire head coach Andy Reid after the season, and that would put Bowles and the rest of the staff out of work as well. Bowles may say he’s only thinking about his job with the Eagles, but it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t love a job offer that allows him to stay in Philadelphia and take over at his alma mater. Bowles to Temple makes a lot of sense.
