Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garçon threw some cold water on hopes that Robert Griffin III would be able to start at quarterback against the Browns this weekend when he talked about what the team needs to do when Kirk Cousins is in the game, but there’s been no official word in either direction from the team.

There’s some more unofficial word, though, and it sounds a more positive opinion about the chances that hell be in the lineup despite a knee sprain on Sunday. Robert Griffin II, the quarterback’s father, told USA Today that his son expects to start.

“He’s doing great. He definitely said he plans to start. I haven’t seen him (the last two days). But he told me (today) everything has gone well,” Griffin II said. “He’s doing rehabilitation as far as the impact pain working with that. Monday he said he felt really good. Today he felt better. Every day he’s getting better. Monday he had no problems and throughout the workout, he had no problems.”

Griffin II joked that he hoped his son would leave the running to Alfred Morris against Cleveland, but we’ll have to wait to see how much of anything the younger Griffin is able to do once the team returns to practice on Wednesday.
