Aldon Smith says Niners can stop Pats

Aldon Smith

The game of the weekend, assuming the road team shows up (unlike the Texans on Monday night), will be in Foxboro, where the 9-3-1 49ers will face the 10-3 Patriots.

Have we mentioned the game is on NBC?

San Francisco linebacker Aldon Smith believes that road team will indeed show up.

We can stop them,” Smith said, via the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.

One thing that could help the Niners stop the Pats is the fact that, when Smith faced Patriots left tackle Nate Solder in college, Solder couldn’t stop Smith.

“I had a good game,” Smith said, pointing out that he had four sacks for Missouri against Solder’s Colorado Buffaloes. “I faced him in college and I know who he is.”

The official box score at the official Missouri athletics website shows that Smith actually had three sacks. Maybe Smith will get four on Sunday night.

If he does, he’ll break the single-season record by one full sack, with two full games to go.
