Bills shut down two players for the season

The Bills don’t have much of value left to play for this season, but they’ve got two games left on the schedule all the same and they’ll need healthy bodies to fill out the roster for them.

To that end, the Bills have removed a couple of injured players from the roster. Linebacker Arthur Moats has been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury he suffered in last week’s loss to the Seahawks. Wide receiver Donald Jones missed that game with a calf injury that’s bothered him on and off this season and he’s been placed on the non-football injury list.

“It’s been bothering him off and on,” head coach Chan Gailey said, via the Bills website. “It shows up and doesn’t show up.”

Jones had 41 catches for 443 yards and four touchdowns this season, all of which are career highs. If the Bills get David Nelson back healthy and acquire the top-flight receiver they hope to add this offseason, Jones will likely be in for a fight with rookie T.J. Graham for a spot on the depth chart next season.

The Bills promoted wide receiver Chris Hogan and linebacker Greg Lloyd (not that one) from the practice squad to fill out the roster. You might remember Hogan as “7-Eleven” from this summer’s edition of Hard Knocks, which featured Hogan’s ultimately unsuccessful effort to make the Dolphins as one of its running storylines.

  1. Get Chris Hogan out on the field with Stevie Johnson, Hogan already runs crisp routes, imagine how much better he’d be with Johnson showing him the ropes. Stevie Johnson is one of the best route runners in the NFL today. Pair him up with a precise passer similar to a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Matthew Stafford and you would see another Kelly–>Reed, Montana–>Rice, Aikman–>Irvin or Manning–>Wayne. Of course talking about a great QB is a lot easier than actually finding one.
Anyway, I sure hope the Bills keep Hogan around, he has a huge work ethic. I see only good coming out of him.

  2. Two words: Keenan Allen
That is who you should draft with your 1st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Also, WR Cobi Hamilton from Arkansas would be a good pick in the 3rd round. With your 2nd and 4th round pick, think offensive linemen.

  3. Greg Lloyd is “That one” … It’s his son.. Lets see how the bloodline is in the Lloyd family! So excited for this..! Been following this kid since Philly drafted him!
