Jordan Black: I never gained 50 pounds, and I’m not a doper

AP

Redskins offensive lineman Jordan Black has begun serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs, but he denies that he ever used PEDs. And Black also denies the reports that he gained 50 pounds this year.

“Contrary to reports,” Black said, via David Elfin of 106.7 The Fan, “I never gained 50 pounds. Prior to this season, I maintained a playing weight of 310 pounds. I currently weigh 275.2 pounds. I entered camp . . . at 270 pounds. I am the smallest offensive tackle in the NFL. It is not only a lie, but simply ridiculous for anyone to label me as a doper.”

It’s interesting that Black is waiting until now to deny the reports that he has gained 50 pounds, which have been circulating for months. It’s also interesting that he still hasn’t explained how he ended up testing positive for PEDs if he is not, as he claims, a doper. But that’s Black’s story.

A backup offensive lineman, Black has appeared in all 14 games for the Redskins this season. He’ll have to sit out the last two games of the regular season and then continue serving his suspension into the playoffs (if the Redskins play two playoff games) or into the 2013 regular season.

  1. Hmmm…wonder if the Mara, of the New York Football Giants, had anything to do with it? Seems to me he has a real interest in how the Cowboys and Redskins fare in their last two games.

  2. “It’s interesting that Black is waiting until now to deny the reports that he has gained 50 pounds, which have been circulating for months.”

why is that interesting? if he hadnt previously been accused of doping, why would he respond to what he is calling a baseless and false rumor? usually only guilty people defend themselves before they are accused

  3. He’s the third string Right Tackle – he is the backup for Tyler Polumbus, who is the backup for Jammal Brown.

Exactly how many people were beating a path to an almost retired third string tackle’s house before this to ask him about supposedly gaining 50 pounds during the off season?

  4. He has a script of Adderol which he has had for 10+ years. There was some sort of paperwork mistake which caused the suspension. I am sure Mara, Jr. is behind it – kidding, sort of.

This Redskins team is on a roll and will most certainly win the NFC East despite all the league attempts to stop them by stealing the $18 million in cap space.

If the Redskins were to be blown out in the first round of the playoffs it would still give me great pleasure to know that the crook in New York was watching the game on the couch while his team is home. HTTR.

  5. Boy, the Redskins sure do get a lot of these suspensions…. Are they a bunch of dopers, or is there something else going on here?

  6. You can’t appear in all 14 games if you don’t play…he’s only been on the field the last game against Cleveland, so i’d think about correcting that “he appeared in all 14 games”

  7. Why would he tell anyone he didn’t gain 50lbs? And even if he wanted to, who would listen? He’s a backup offensive linemen.

  8. It’s obvious the league wants to stick it to the Redskins…..pretty strange how he’s been on the bench all season and as soon as we need him to fill in at tackle (we’re pretty much down to nothing) he’s suspended for a prescription he’s had for years! At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if another suspension pops up if we’re able to make the playoffs

  9. he says he maintained a weight of 310 and that he now weighs 275???? sounds like he stopped taking the juice when the rumors began to circulate…..where did those 30lbs go??

My point exactly…If anybody needs to be investigated, it is Mara…and more importantly, why is the assault only focusing on the Redskins and Cowboys? Goodell needs to take a hike also for allowing that buffoon to do the things he has done and obviously, continues to do…

  11. If Mara is involved at all, RG3 will be suspended before week 17. Serving a one game suspension for testing positive for Advil while recovering from his knee injury.

  12. Several of his teammates have come out and said that he’s being screwed by the league over a paperwork issue, so yeah, there is more to this story.

It involves Roger Goodell and his overlord Mara perfecting their Emperor/Darth Vader act.

  13. I simply have a hard time accepting the timing of each suspension they’ve gotten this year- Tanard Jackson received his suspension literally THE DAY before the season started, tell me that wasn’t an interesting coincidence. Jordan Black doesn’t get in trouble UNTIL Polumbus goes down injured and he’s probably needed to start next week. Cedric Griffin has a big game, SUSPENDED the NEXT DAY, after other DB’s get hurt and his playing time is about to go up…..

Who decides these things AND the timing of these things? Just like the Salary Cap hit for breaking a rule that didn’t exist, this is looking fishy to me

  14. I hate the redskins (cowboy fan), but this sounds awfully fishy. Everybody on the OL has commented that there is NO WAY he’s been doping and that the accusations are ridiculous. There are also some suggestions that he’s been taking some medicine that might provide a false positive, but that it had been cleared by the NFL already.

Mara appears to be at work.

  15. Maybe he didn’t feel the need to talk about his weight before because it is a matter of record. Players weigh in when they come to camp, and any reporter who actually cared to verify the rumor probably could have gotten the information from the team.

And for the same reason, I doubt that he would lie about what he weighed when he got to camp, as that would be fairly easy for someone to find out.

I am starting to get an uneasy feeling about this drug testing program. How often does the number of athletes testing positive go up dramatically the longer a plan is in place? Something strange is going on here.

  16. Did adderall just get banned or something? There is a whole lot of fails for “paperwork” errors don’t they have an appeal process that could take care of that? Something is definitely fishy

  17. Redskins fans have tunnel vision bigtime.

If the suspension really was for adderol than there’s only been about 25 players suspended for using it this year, from many different teams.

Unless Mara has somehow orchestrated the false positives of all those players league wide, the conspiracy theories are out the window.

I can hear the crying already once the Skins miss the playoffs or lose in them. It won’t have anything at all to do with the way they played on the field, only that Mara somehow caused the loss.

Just because he may not have played at RT, doesn’t mean he didn’t play. It is possible he is on some special teams units (punt, FG, etc.).

    Name one.
